At Mercyhealth, we believe caring for our patients goes beyond doctor visits. That is why we are proud to be a part of the Meals On Wheels program, a volunteer program with a strong tradition of service.
Meals On Wheels provides affordable meals for the elderly or disabled in their homes. The meals are made fresh in the cafeterias of Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center–Janesville, and Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center–Harvard. The programs are overseen by Mercyhealth hospital dietary staff to ensure meals are nutritional and varied. Volunteers deliver these meals, as well as some companionship and care, to people in the Mercyhealth neighborhood.
“At the core of the Meals On Wheels service is a nutritious meal, companionship and a watchful eye on the health and safety of our seniors. For those who have trouble getting around, we bring the service to you,” says the national Meals On Wheels organization.
